The distinction of Nostalgia for the light is no human on the screen. The whole story are expressed by voice over and objects. The art of cinematography also made me very impressive. The high quality of shooting are shown just in couple of minutes. In fact, I feel lot of beautiful tricks are used in Nostalgia for the Light.
1.The sequences of moon and space make me recall the style of editing in 2001: A Space Odyssey. In this Stanly’s movie, we see a sequence cuts among space, earth and space ship and hear a long symphony, and we see similar style in Nostalgia for the Light, a series cuts of moon, space, and hear a symphony as well.
Comparison of these two frames between two movies:
2001: A Space Odyssey
Nostalgia for the light
2. The use of change of light are like Léon,the Professional directed by Luc Besson. They both state the relationship between hope and light
3. The metaphor also are used well. We see how the director compares dust in the soft light to stars in the universe.
4. The composition of frames in this movie is creative. For example, the use of central axial symmetry makes me recall movies from Wes Anderson.
