ALL SOURCES VIEWED VIA THE OLD READER
The Rss feeds is considerate to me to see all of my interests at one page, and easily to see the update of each website. I don’t know why Google closed its Rss feed service.
After you finish your video shooting, what would be the most annoying thing and that should take long time to engage? Is editing, VFX, or color grading. That really depends on what kind of project you are doing. At any rate, for getting cinematic look, you can’t get rid of the phase of color grading shot by shot. Digital revolution such as open cinema DNG format and Apple Prores format gives you more room to grade your color of clips. Whereas, it comes with increasingly complicated work flow, and it take longer time and more budget on post production. Having used Rss feeds (The Old Reader), I found more articles about LUT ( look up table) for easier post color grading.
A look up table (LUT) mathematically translates a set values in your image into another set of values. For example converting a flat log image (high dynamic range) into video gamma that has correct brightness and contrast, or converting from one colour space into another. It means you can apply Kodak or Fuji film color space to your digital image, to get film look. LUT is different to many software, plug-in, presets, looks and tutorials, a print LUT is actually an accurate and measured emulation of film. Nofilmschool.com defines it nicely:
LUTs are not used to creatively grade a final result, they’re used to make up a difference between a source and a result. In practical application… the LUT will let you view your footage during editing more naturally than the flat, desaturated image originally recorded.
You can download the Davinci resolve Lite for free and it allows you to use LUT. Even as we are doing the CMWP assignment ( digital story), the use of LUT is applied in this time. As you can see below, how LUT is powerful:

Basically, our shot looks like more cinematic now, then we just need to do a little bit secondary color grading, to get more stylized video.
